THE BASIC FACILITY

BASIC is the high-level programming language of
the M 10. there are three operating modes in
BASIC:

Direct - This is the mode in force when the
Ok prompt appears on the screen
and it is entered automatically
when you access BASIC. It is used
to enter programs and imr'ediate
1ines .

Execute - This mode is entered when the M10
is running a program or executing
a command. The f''1 0 returns automa-
tically to Direct mode.

Text or Edit - This mode is entered with the
command EDIT <ENTER> and ;t is
used to edit programs. It incor-
porates all the features of the
TEXT application program except
automatic word-wrapping.

Files created in BASIC a-e suffixed . BA by the
M10.

THE FUNCTION KEYS IN BASIC

The function of keys Ft-FS varies acccording to
the operating mode. They are summarised in Tables
2 and 3.
